The Basics Early Childhood – Small Moments, Big Impact
Helping Families Support Early Learning
The Basics early childhood program continues to empower parents and caregivers of children ages 0–5 with simple, powerful practices that strengthen learning and connection at home. Through five daily actions—talk, sing, play, count, and read—families can boost healthy brain development and create meaningful bonding moments.

What Families Experience
This fall, our sessions of The Basics early childhood have brought joy and discovery to dozens of families in Forsyth and Dawson. Each week, parents learn practical strategies they can use during everyday routines, such as:
-
Singing during breakfast
-
Counting objects while playing
-
Naming emotions during story time
-
Reading together before bed
These small activities build strong communication skills, confidence, and curiosity in young children.

Families attending The Basics early childhood sessions discover how simple moments make a lifelong difference. Activities are hands-on, interactive, and designed to support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Why The Basics Matters
80% of brain development happens before age 3.
This means everyday interactions—talking, singing, playing, counting, and reading—shape how a child grows, learns, and connects with the world.
Research shows that families who participate in The Basics early childhood program:
-
Build stronger parent-child relationships
-
Improve early language and literacy skills
-
Increase confidence in supporting learning at home
